How Does Ethnocentricity Cause Conflict?

The British's ethnocentric view of the First Australians caused many conflicts only because of the British not being able to accept a different culture. When the British first arrived in Australia they saw the Aboriginals as animals. The British also called them savages and uncivilized. The British did not understand one of the Aboriginals rituals of revenge which was that if you did something bad to them they could do the same to you. A colonizer and hunter was killing Aboriginals so they killed him too, the Governor Phillip was very angry at this and ordered the Aboriginals to be killed and their heads brought back to him. If Phillip could realize that this was normal in Australia he would have not have reacted so strongly. This decision almost ruined the relationship Phillip had with an Aboriginal leader named Bennelong. But this did not ruin the relationship and Bennelong went back to England with Phillip as a Trophy saying we have tamed the animals. Later in Bennelongs years he went back to Australia and the british had destroyed the Aboriginals crops for the crops they wanted like corn. Bennelong went back to his tribe and when he died the British in his Obituary called him a through savage and even though he went to England he was still an animal and that would not change for any of the Aboriginals.

Julius Caesar, acting performance

The context of this passage is right after the conspiraters have killed Caesar. It is Antonies siligue to the aduince. saying how he will get revenge on Caesar's killers. The meaning in this passage is to show remorse for Caesar. Antony deos this by talking to the audience and it's makes you relize that the cospiraters killed him unjustly. It also shows that how Brutus pictures Caesar's death was false and they are not purgers but are butchers. Then at the end of the passage it gives forshadowing towards how Antony is going to revenge Caesar. This passage is in act three scene 1 line 254 through 275.

ANTONY
O, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth,
That I am meek and gentle with these butchers!
Thou art the ruins of the noblest man
That ever lived in the tide of times.
Woe to the hand that shed this costly blood!
Over thy wounds now do I prophesy,--
Which, like dumb mouths, do ope their ruby lips,
To beg the voice and utterance of my tongue--
A curse shall light upon the limbs of men;
Domestic fury and fierce civil strife
Shall cumber all the parts of Italy;
Blood and destruction shall be so in use
And dreadful objects so familiar
That mothers shall but smile when they behold
Their infants quarter'd with the hands of war;
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds:
And Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial

My Learning Profile

I am a Gestalt thinker with an "L" profile. there are many different profiles but how you tell which one you are is by some very easy test's seeing your dominate eye and leg etc. After finding this you can look in the book given on what helps you learn and what can help you study and such.
One thing the booklet said is that I learn best when I have room to move, When people see move they think walk around the room but basically means room to move their arms or legs. I like to shake my leg and have it elevated on something. Another thing the booklet said "L" learners should do is make lists of what we need to do. I personally don't like to do this because I feel over whelped by work, but when I do make lists I get allot done.
I need to Listen to music or be with someone when I do work or I will just sit there and do nothing. Also I need to see an example of something before I do something or else I will not get the subject we are working on.
Some strategies that would help me learn would be like above look at examples, make lists, and ask for help more. I actually know these can help me because when I do these things I useably get a good grade. Also working in a group helps me focus but as soon as someone goes onto a different subject I will completely loose focus.
A few things I would like my teachers to know, I procrastinate allot and won't get homework done until it's almost due. Also I like to have fun in classes and I enjoy them more so jokes and stuff is cool. Also I need allot of reminders of when retakes are because it most of the time slips out of my mind.
I hope my teachers have learned allot about me and my learning profile so they can make me a better learner.

How Does Art Mirror Society

I have chosen the picture of "The Art of Painting" by Vermeer. This painting was created in the year 1666, and it is an oil on canvas painting. This painting is showing what is happening in the renaissance because it shows Vermeer painting a women in the background.  In the renaissance it was coming more and more common for artist to paint things that were not relevant to religion. This painting mirrors society because Vermeer is showing that people would often get portraits of themselves or others. In Vermeer's painting the women is mirror the women of the renaissance because she is wearing nice clothes and has a horn and book in her hands. This shows that women would learn how to play music and maybe learn how to read and write. The renaissance was a large period of change that could be shown through art. Some of these changes would have been the education of women, and art not be focus on religion. So next time you go look at a painting of the past see if you can see what it is mirroring.

Driving Forces of the Renaissance

Trade and banking was a driving force during the Italian Renaissance because by trading with other countries Italy grew in knowledge and in the mastery of jobs. They became masters so they could trade better more expensive products. And by Banking the Italians could store knowledge and money and become rich. And then they could donate money and make there city a better place with more advancements than the other cities.
